I know that Aladdin used the color of the design to designate the color of the shade, so since there is only one color on this shade I guess they chose to call it "rose". I'm not sure what the design was supposed to represent but maybe that's why it only appears in a brochure from 1948 and doesn't appear again in 1949!
Now this is a little more like it! This shade appears in the last brochure for Aladdin Whip-o-Lite shades that I have access to in my references. It is the No. 388-variegated "ducks" shade from 1949. The design is a little more artistic for this era, and it went over rather well. It was used on Aladdin table, hanging, and bracket lamps. A smaller version of it was also used on Aladdin "caboose" lamps, the history of which came from their use in the caboose of many trains.
