The 10 1/4 inch Green Venetian Art Craft vase lamp, like all the Venetian Art Craft vase lamps, has the paint applied to the inside of the clear glass vase then is fired to fuse the paint to the glass. The pattern known as a "straw" is then applied to the outside of the vase, as is the gold paint that covers the edge of the base and the three large toes (feet). The lamps with the straw designs are harder to find than those without it, which makes it more popular with collectors. The straw patterns can range from quite sparse to being quite artistic. The sparse patterns are sometimes almost indiscernible from a distance while others stand out rather dramatically. This particular lamp is one of the more artistic designs that are highly sought by those collecting vase lamps.
