The 10 1/4 Blue Venetian Art-Craft vase lamp has the blue variegated paint applied to the inside of the vase before it is fired on. When the process is complete gold paint is applied to the edge of the base and the three large toes (feet). Like most blue lamps this is one of the favorite 10 1/4 inch vase lamps for collectors, although the color can vary from light to quite dark. Most of the collectors I know prefer the darker lamps because the pattern in the blue paint is more pronounced in them.
I have to wonder why the blue Venetian Art-Craft vase lamp was never offered with a straw finish. I would think since the blue color is rather popular that a straw pattern would have been a good lamp to market.
The orange Venetian Art-Craft vase as well, was never offered with a straw pattern either. If they had finished the orange lamp in a black straw pattern, instead of just the black trim on the base, it might have sold rather well. Or maybe not, but that would have make it even more collectible. I guess I have to keep in mind that the Aladdin Mantle Lamp Company, and Aladdin Industries, were making lamps for homes in the thirties and not for the collectors decades into the future.
